During Mobile World Congress event that was conducted at Barcelona, Samsung confirmed that it will unveil its new flagship product i.e. Samsung Galaxy S IV during an event on March 14 this year in New York. It is also expected that Samsung will also unveils it Galaxy Note III phablet during the same event, however the news is not yet confirmed by Samsung.
The device is expected to arrive with 5 inch display size which is supported with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixel. Samsung Galaxy S IV is also rumoured to support wireless chargingwhich is already launched by Nokia and LG in their flagship smartphones Lumia 920 andNexus 4 respectively. The wireless charging dock will not be a part of standard mobile
packaging and will be sold separately.
The device is also rumoured to support S Pen which was earlier the distinguishing feature of Galaxy Note series of phablets. However, the news is doubtful as S Pen is the core USP of Galaxy Note which makes the device distinguishable. Along with this, Galaxy S IV will support 2 GB of RAM, 13 MP of rear camera and a front camera for video calling and hangout.
The device is expected to come in two variants, one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and the other with the homegrown Exynos 5 octa processor. These variants will be launched globally according to LTE infrastructure of the respective country. Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor based SIV will be launched in the countries where LTE network is present while the Exynos 5 octa processor based model will be for non-LTE based countries.
The Exynos 5 Octa is a Samsung’s own 8 core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 and 1.2 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 along with Tricore PoverVR GPU. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 on the other hand runs a quad-core Krait 300 CPU clocking at 1.9 GHz along with the Adreno 320 GPU. According to Qualcomm, the new SoC delivers 40% better performance than the existing S4 Pro chips.
As of now, the current information are speculations which can only get confirmed onceSamsung finally unveils the models in New York on March 14. So it time to wait and watch the offerings of Korean Giant for its consumers.
