It seems quite strange that password management strategy of Chrome is quite poor. If you know the steps (which is rather easy to follow), you can very easily get any password that is stored by Google Chrome’s browser.
All you need to do is to open your Chrome browser and go to settings. Scroll at the bottom of the page and click “Show Advance Settings”. Now go to passwords and forms section and click “Manage Saved Passwords”. A screen will open that will list down all your passwords behind asterisk characters. The other way round to reach this screen directly is to type the following address in the address bar of chrome:
chrome://settings/passwords
When you take your mouse near the password field, you will notice a show button appearing. Click on the button and your password is displayed. No master password, no security and neither a prompt of any kind.
It is rather recommended to the users either not to give their laptop or computer to anyone else or donot store your passwords in Chrome. That is in fact the best way to protect yourself as of now.
Chrome security Tech Lead, Justin Schuh says that once someone has got access to your operating system, they can very well get access to all other things using various underhand means.
Such loopholes have already created wave in the market and we are shortly expecting an update from Google that will hide these passwords.
